WHAT TO EXPECT

Introduction
Are you visiting our office for the first time? It’s helpful to know what to expect.

Chiropractors want to do everything possible to help relieve their patient’s symptoms quickly and with as few treatments as necessary. He or she needs to understand as much about why you are there to determine the right course of treatment for you.

In initial consultations, the doctor will tell you more about your condition and recommend an approach to care. Feel free to ask questions. As in any doctor-patient relationship, trust and understanding are very important.

A typical visit to a chiropractor includes an information intake, the chiropractic exam, treatment, and a follow-up plan.

What Should I Expect During My First Visit?
There are several things that you can expect during your first visit. These are the stages:
1. Fill out your patient forms
2. Consult with the Doctor
3. Undergo an exam
4. X-Rays (if required)
5. Briefing on the findings
6. Proposed plan of treatment
7. Proposed Wellness Program

What Happens During the Chiropractic Exam?
You will consult with the doctor. You can describe to him any health problems you may have, your concerns, and expectations. This will assist the doctor in determining the best treatment plan for you.

After the consultation, the doctor will perform a complete examination. A chiropractic exam usually includes a variety of assessments, such as range of motion tests, muscle strength comparisons, reflex testing, and palpation. You may be scheduled for diagnostic testing digital x-rays so your doctor can fully understand your injury and prepare a treatment plan.

What is Involved in the Treatment?
After the exam, we will develop a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs and lifestyle.

There are three phases of care:
1. Relief care
2. Corrective care
3. Restorative care
4. Maintenance

The doctor may begin treatment immediately after the exam, especially if you are in pain.

Before you leave the office, the doctor will explain in detail the treatment plan for the three phases of care and recommended a schedule for future visits.

Your goals are very important, and the goals of your treatment should result from the discussion you have with your chiropractor.
